Use OpenRoles
Resumes and versions
Versions is where your saved resumes live. A good setup is a base resume plus a version for each kind of role, for example “Backend · Java” and “Lead · Web”.
Add a version
- Upload or write one on OpenRoles.
- Have your assistant write one. Paste a posting and ask it to tailor your resume. It reads your saved resume, writes the new one, and saves it as a version linked to that job. Saving a version this way is free.
- Tailor from a job page. On a role’s page, choose a resume and Tailor a version for this job. OpenRoles makes a new version named “Company — Role” in about twenty seconds, and leaves the resume you started from as it was.
Score a version
Ask your assistant to score a resume, or run the score on OpenRoles. You get a score out of 100, a breakdown across six criteria, and the specific problems to fix.
Your assistant is told never to invent experience. Still, read what it writes before you send it. OpenRoles saves an uploaded resume as your own words.
Linked to a job
A version made for one posting is remembered for it. The extension offers it first on that job’s form, and lists it last on every other form.
