Cursor and Claude Desktop config

These connect through mcp-remote, a small helper that runs on your computer and talks to OpenRoles with a personal token. You need Node.js installed.

  1. Make a tokenGo to Account → Agents on OpenRoles and make a token. Copy it now, because it’s shown only once.
  2. Add the server to your configIn Cursor, the file is ~/.cursor/mcp.json. In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Developer → Edit config. Paste this, with your token in place of orl_pat_…:
    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "openroles": {
          "command": "npx",
          "args": [
            "-y",
            "mcp-remote",
            "https://openroles.in/mcp",
            "--header",
            "Authorization:${OPENROLES_AUTH}"
          ],
          "env": {
            "OPENROLES_AUTH": "Bearer orl_pat_…"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  3. Restart the appQuit and reopen Cursor or Claude Desktop. OpenRoles appears in its list of tools.

Keep your token out of any file you share or commit to git. Anyone holding it can act on your OpenRoles account until you revoke it.
