About the role

Role: Hardware Test Engineer – Battery & Charger Validation

Department: New Product Development Location: Bengaluru, India Experience: 2-5 Years

Your Team

You'll be working with New Product Development — a group that runs on coffee and an infectious passion for building products that have never been built before. Our Flexible Energy Stack consists of the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station), which unlock 15-minute rapid charging.

Our philosophy

Break. Believe. Build.

Break stuff, break assumptions, break the thumb rule.

Believe in the team, the process, and through failures.

Build fast, build passionately, build to simplify.

Own it like you mean it.

What you’ll own

We are looking for a hands-on Hardware Test Engineer with real EV battery and charger testing experience to plan, execute and report validation tests in our lab. This role is built for someone early in their career who has already worked on EV hardware and wants to grow into ownership of test programs – not for a fresher, and not for a senior engineer looking for a lead role.

What you’ll do

  • Execute DVP&R tests on battery packs, modules, BMS hardware and DC/AC chargers as per test plans and standards (AIS-156, AIS-038 Rev 2, IS 17017, IEC 61851/62196 as applicable).
  • Set up and operate lab equipment: battery cyclers, DC sources/e-loads, power analysers, DAQ, thermal chambers, insulation/hipot testers, oscilloscopes and CAN tools.
  • Perform electrical, functional, performance and safety tests – capacity, efficiency, charge/discharge profiles, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand, thermal behaviour, protection and fault response.
  • Support environmental and mechanical tests (thermal cycling, humidity, IP ingress, vibration, shock) and coordinate with external labs (ARAI, ICAT, NABL labs) during certification testing.
  • Build and maintain test fixtures, harnesses and set-ups; follow lab safety (HV, LOTO, precautions and general discipline).
  • Log, analyse and report test data clearly; raise and track defects to closure with design, firmware and supplier teams.
  • Evaluate supplier report and add test cases to be performed to fully qualify the parts.
  • Keep test procedures, records and calibration logs up to date for audits and homologation.

What you’ll bring

  • Education qualification
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, EEE or Instrumentation.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on testing experience in the EV industry (OEM, battery maker, charger maker or testing lab).
  • Direct experience testing Li-ion batteries/BMS and/or EV chargers – both preferred.
  • Comfort working safely with high-voltage systems (up to ~100 V DC for LV packs; HV exposure a plus).
  • Working knowledge of CAN communication and tools (PCAN, CANalyzer/CANoe, BusMaster or similar).
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and datasheets.
  • Good with Excel for data analysis; basic Python/MATLAB scripting is a plus.

Good to Have

  • Exposure to Indian EV standards and homologation – AIS-156, AIS-038, AIS-048, IS 17017, CMVR.
  • Experience with environmental chambers, IP testing or vibration tables.
  • Familiarity with DVP&R, DFMEA and 8D problem-solving.

What matters to us

  • Quality of work
  • Structured problem-solving
  • Dissatisfaction with mediocre work
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a dynamic working environment
  • Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing
